Insurance and Billing

Questions about insurance and billing?

We're here to answer your questions related to billing, insurance, or anything related to your treatment.

Below you will find answers to some of the more commonly asked questions.

Pay Your Bill Online

It's fast, easy, and secure. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover. No additional fees apply.

Do you accept my insurance?

Associates in Psychiatry and Psychology does accept the majority of insurance plans in Southwest Minnesota. Please contact your insurance provider to see if we are in network with your plan. Depending on your insurance provider, you should find a phone number that will allow you to contact your insurance provider on the front or back of your insurance card to determine if we are in or out of network.

What is a co-pay?

A co-pay, short for “co-payment,” is a small, fixed amount of money that the insurance provider requires the insured person to pay at the time of service each time he or she comes in for an office visit.

When will I receive a statement?

If you have insurance coverage, you will receive a statement from Associates in Psychiatry and Psychology after we receive an explanation of benefits from your insurance provider. If you do not have insurance coverage, you will receive a statement about a week after your office visit. If you do not owe anything for a specific visit after the insurance responds, you will not receive a statement from Associates in Psychiatry and Psychology. You will only receive a statement from us if you have a balance on your account.

What if I believe I received a statement in error?

If you believe that you received a statement in error, call the APP billing department at 507.288.8544, and they will be more than willing to assist with any of your questions.

What if I don't have insurance?

APP will evaluate and treat your behavioral health concerns regardless of insurance. For patients without insurance, an upfront charge will be required before seeing the provider. Once you are evaluated, the provider will determine the charges and bill you for any remaining balance. Discounts for prompt payment are available to patients with no insurance coverage who pay their bill in full within two weeks of receiving their first statement. We also provide payment plans for outstanding balances.

What forms of payment can I use?

APP accepts cash, personal checks, money orders, FSA, HRA, HSA, debit card, and VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit card payments. You can pay your bill online.

What are in-network  & out-of-network providers?

In-network providers are providers who are contracted with your specific insurance plan. When providers are contracted with your plan, the benefits from the insurance company are much greater than if the provider is not contracted (out-of-network) with your plan. When providers are out-of-network with your plan, the benefits will be much less from the insurance company than if the provider was in-network.
