Dr. Patton has over 25 years of experience as a therapist. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has certification in clinical hypnotherapy and is Level II EMDR certified. She works with all age groups. Specialties include: PTSD, childhood and adult trauma and dissociation, pain management; phobias; gender dysphoria; premarital and marital counseling; work stress; parent-teen issues; recovery from addictions and habit disorders. She also devotes part of her practice to supervising new therapists.

John Anderson, MSW, LICSW, Rochester, Owatonna and Wabasha offices

John is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 35 years of experience in outpatient psychotherapy. He works with children, adolescents, and adults, providing individual, couple, and family therapy. John has expertise in the areas of family therapy, marital counseling, grief counseling, and issues of adolescence.

 

Kelsey Kitzmann MS LMFT, Rochester office

Kelsey is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She completed her training at Iowa State University. She began her career as an in-home therapist working with children and their families. She works with children, adolescents, and adults providing individual, couple, and family therapy. Her areas of expertise include: trauma, abuse, grief, attachment, behavioral disorders, adoption, foster care, and family therapy.

Kristine M. Meyer, MA LP, Rochester office

Kristi is a Licensed Psychologist experienced with ADHD, LD, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and behavioral problems. Her areas of expertise include psychological testing and assessment for children and adults. She specializes in stress-management, communication skills, anger and behavior management, social skills, self-esteem, phobias, panic disorders, OCD, and relaxation techniques. Kristi practices from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, and serves individuals, couples, families, and groups. Kristi also teaches at St. Mary's University.

Amy Strait, Psy D, LP Faribault office

Dr. Strait is a licensed clinical psychologist. She provides psychological assessment (e.g., court ordered, bariatric & sexual offenses) and psychotherapy (e.g., individual, couple & family) for adults, adolescents, and children (over age 10) to address all areas of mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety, anger and coping). Dr. Strait specializes in the treatment of sexuality issues (e.g., sexual dysfunction, transgender, sexual compulsions) through assessment and therapy.

 

Barbara Lowe-Fierke, Psy D LP, Faribault office

Barb has experience with young children and families, including play therapy with children ages 3-11. She also counsels adults with depression and anxiety, OCD, and BPD. Barb has extensive experience with personality testing and neuropsychological testing for cognitive deficits in children and the elderly. Other specialty areas include Bariatric and Social Security Disabiltiy evaluations.

Sue Knutson Sue is a retired Navy nurse who is certified in Holistic Nursing. Some of her specialties in EEG Biofeedback include: ADD, Autism, PTSD, RAD, depression, stress symptoms, codependency, burn-out, brain Injury and general well being. Kathryn A. Amundson, Ph.D MSW LICSW, Rochester and Wabasha offices

Kathryn ("Katie") brings over 30 years of experience to APP. Katie works with clients across the age spectrum (6+ years and up). In addition to individual and group psychotherapy, her specialties include: play therapy, couples, and family therapy. Areas of interest include: depression (particularly with seasonal components S.A.D.), life transitions (adolescence to young adulthood, divorce, etc.), PTSD, stress management, grief and loss. She recently added animal-assisted therapy, with her TDI trained/certified therapy dog, Lexi, a 7 y/o Samoyed. Research interests include: the correlation between attachment and PTSD; depression in children; and the influence of fathers on adult development in their children.

LexiI, a 7 year-old former champion Samoyed, has worked with Katie Amundson, PhD., as a therapy team since 2009. As a former show dog, Lexi has the temperament necessary to be a therapy dog. She is AKC and TDI certified to provide animal-assisted therapy in a clinical setting. Lexi was born to touch people with her boundless love, mellow personality, and good looks! She is a people magnet. As one of her clients aptly described her, she is "love on legs."

Rebecca Vigars MA LMFT, Rochester office

Becky has been licensed and in practice since 1998. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. She has experience helping individuals overcome the effects of trauma (past and present), depression, anxiety, as well as anger management. Becky helps couples achieve better communications and thereby have increasingly deeper and more satisfying relationships. She also enjoys helping parents develop positive parenting skills and strategies. Becky has extensive training and experience working with children and adolescents in all areas that affect their lives from domestic violence, addiction, physical and sexual abuse, divorce to ADHD, behavior and school issues. Becky has worked with children in foster care, as well as with foster parents and parents working for reunification. She also has experience working with adoptive families and children.

Diane Caspers MS LP, Owatonna office

Diane is a Licensed Psychologist with more than 30 years of professional experience working in the field of counseling and psychotherapy. She works with all age groups in individual, couples and family therapy and she has training in play therapy for children. Diane has expertise in the treatment of mood, behavior and adjustment disorders as well as testing and psychological evaluation of adults. She has extensive experience facilitating recovery and healing work around issues of shame, abuse, grief and loss, chemical dependency and family of origin wounding. She specializes in depth process and inner healing work. She has a strong interest in the Jungian individuation process. In 2011 she completed a 2 year training program in Sand Play Therapy which she has added to her practice for the treatment of adults as well as children. Diane is also a Certified Spiritual Director comfortable with integrating spirituality into therapy at the client�s choosing.

Leah Johnson is a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in family practice and in the care of the entire person. She treats patients ages 18 and older. Leah has 16+ years of experience in the field of family practice and is an excellent diagnostician and a caring professional.

David Hall Psy D, LP, Faribault office

Dr. Hall is a licensed psychologist. He earned his master's and doctorate from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Hall provides psychological testing and assessment (mental health, anger management, cognitive & dementia). He provides individual psychotherapy for children and adults, as well as marriage and couples therapy and has special training in family psychology. Dr. Hall emphasizes evidenced-based practice including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. He is a consultant to local area nursing homes with much experience in geriatric mental health and rehabilitation.
